When we think of industries dealing with environmental compliance our mind naturally drifts to large industrial sites with tall smoke stacks billowing pollutants. Though, how often do we think about healthcare providers and their environmental compliance? As the healthcare industry in the United States continues to go through massive changes one constant is the shrinking of budgets. As these budgets get tight, unnecessary expenses due to environmental violations or unknown contamination can cause major financial problems. In this webinar we will first, discuss why environmental compliance for healthcare providers should be taken seriously with the use of a few case studies. Second, we will walk through environmental considerations for healthcare providers in relation to the big four environmental areas (air, water, waste, and chemicals) as well as relating environmental issues to trends that are occurring in the healthcare industry such as ‘consumerism’ and increased access to care. This will be a high-level overview giving professionals new to their environmental responsibilities a solid foundation and experienced professionals a review.
